Breastfeeding and the Feldenkrais Method.
How can the Feldenkrais Method help you become a better breastfeeder? Hmmm…ambiguity of the previous sentences aside, I’m not actually going to talk about that.
However, “Baby Talk” magazine put a picture of a breastfeeding baby on the cover of its August, 2006 edition and it created quite a stir. Several thousand people wrote letters speaking of their “horror” and “disgust”. I find the backlash to be an interesting commentary on American’s self-image and relationships to their bodies.
If a person is not used to seeing such things, I can see being uncomfortable or wanting to turn away – at least at first. But horrified? Give me a break. What does such a reaction presuppose in terms of a person’s relationship to their own body?
