Doubts about chiropractic benefits for back pain
The article below about chiropractic care is old news I suppose, but I thought to include it here for several reasons. The main one being that I have a renewed interest in intervention research and its possible relation to the Feldenkrias Method. The article appears to be written by someone associated with quackwatch.
Quackwatch usually has rather harsh judgements about so-called, “complementary and alternative” methods – some of them well-deserved. And from their point of view both Chiropractic and Feldenkrais are “alternative.” However, I like the fact that they seem to give credit where credit is due. For instance, while knocking chiropractic benefits for back pain, the article reports and supports the benefits of massage. The full text of the article is on the “Chiropractic News Digest”.
Speaking of massage, I am currently reviewing a rather positive analysis of massage therapy that was published in the “Psychological Bulletin.” I can’t share the full-text of the article, but the abstract is online at PubMed. We in the Feldenkrais community would be lucky to have such a positive research review. Let’s hope we get there.
