Ryan - my blog is sadly enough not open to you as easy as I write in Swedish but it is nice to visit yours! We are many people who only need to get access to the material without translation and transcribation and that way we can/could get out important knowledge from the earlier days in easier and cheaper? ways..but there is, to my mind, defenietly not an open attitude to the material concerning the Feldenkrais Method as scientific knowledge to be viewed openly. Writing about this in open media is important cheers

Eva - Good to hear from you.

You wrote:
"Maybe you can influence the “people” also to release the early research material and manuscripts… that I think is really to promote the Method"

We definitely need more access. I recently talked with the board member of an organization that wants to secure a grant to help catalog, translate, and transcribe the various material. I can't imagine it will happen soon, but there are plans afoot.

cheers! - Ryan

Hi Tim - Thanks for your comments. There were a series of ATMS that Moshe taught in Hebrew in Israel over many years. We call them "Alexander Yanai" based on the address of the studio where they were taught. After Moshe's death, they were translated into English little by little. Actually, I believe that more are being translated, but I could be wrong about that. The DVD material is in English as they were recorded in the U.S.

You wrote:
"Is the Feldenkrais community a little over protective of Moshes work? I think maybe."

I agree with some of your points. Many in the community are overprotective. There is also a vocal minority pushing for more access. Ultimately, the ease of information transfer over the internet will make many of these points moot - access will duplicate on it's own.

In the case of the IFF there are some constraints. For instance, the Feldenkrais family owns much of the material, and they are rightly concerned with protecting Moshe's legacy.

Thanks again - Ryan

"Bye the way - The materials are currently only available for Feldenkrais Practitioners, but I assume that the IFF will eventually begin releasing some materials for the public" Ryan

I don't know if they will. They think that if the lessons are available for the public then people will stop going to ATM classes and just stay at home and do the lessons. Maybe this is true I don't know. Also someone might download them to the internet and other people will be able to get them for free.

Do you know if the lesson are only in Hebrew or are they translated to English and if so does Moshe translate them in his own voice or is it done by someone else. Thanks

Who are "the people"? They seem like the mafia or freemasons. I tried to register for a website that has photos of Moshe and I wasn't allowed to see them because I am not doing feldenkrais training. Is the Feldenkrais community a little over protective of Moshes work? I think maybe.

Ryan
Maybe you can influence the "people" also to release the early research material and manuscripts... that I think is really to promote the Method
